Gas Mineral Rights Update

May 12, 2008

We have been working through the final details of our lease and we've arrived at language that you will find most favorable.  The lease allows the maximum amount of flexibility for gas companies to develop our minerals while setting strict boundaries for protecting our environment.  The lease was first created by melding several area leases such as CISD, a group in Colleyville and others from surrounding areas (FW-Arl), all of which are now available on our website.  We then sent it out to those members who stepped forward and volunteered their time to review and comment.  Those volunteers are comprised of our neighbors who are from within the industry as geologist, attorneys, engineers, or whom have led/participated with the their respective employers/organizations through a gas lease recently.  Most importantly I used a checklist made up of your questions comments and concerns over the past 3-4 months.  Once the melding and commenting was complete I sent the lease along with our collective comments to our attorney who finalized our lease yesterday (yes, on Mother's Day).  The important part of this process is that is draws from language that the gas companies have already seen and approved.

Today I am preparing a brief presentation document for the gas companies.  It will summarize the area we cover, the number of members, and the area and members of those other groups who are working with us on this lease.

I'm comfortable in saying that our lease will be the most homeowner friendly in recent history.  I relate this to the purchase of a computer.  We'll get one with the latest and greatest of the available technology.  But without fail, others after us will be able to purchase a better computer.  Likewise, our lease terms are intended to set a standard to be improved upon.  It is our hope to spread this great lease to as many as possible in and out of our area.  I believe we have taken important steps in certain areas that will change the way the industry leases minerals from urban homeowners.

Our charter is not to hold out for every word or penny.  By banding together and working with other area groups we have created our value.  The companies will not low ball the group and not likely quibble over minor details.  We have written a lease that allows them the flexibility they need to develop the area with strict provisions that protect us all.

This is coming to a conclusion soon.

Thanks, Trenton
